Does hardwood change color after being installed?
Depending upon the species, hardwood will lighten, darken, or turn yellow over time. Direct sunlight exposure will accelerate the process. It is recommended to move rugs and furniture occasionally so that the hardwood will age evenly.
What is engineered hardwood?
Several sheets of hardwood are fused together in the formation of engineered hardwood. The multi-layered structure gives engineered hardwood more stability. It is more stable and durable than solid hardwood. It can be installed in basements and other rooms below ground level.
How easy is hardwood to install?
Solid hardwood flooring needs to be placed in the room in which it will be installed. The cartons need to be opened and raised off the ground. The boards should be in the room for several days to allow the hardwood to become acclimated to the environment. The process is not necessary for engineered hardwood.
As you can see, installation is a bit tricky. Skilled do-it-yourselfers can easily install engineered hardwood. We feel the best way to have a beautiful hardwood floor is to let the experts install it.
